The Cape Coral Fire Department Celebrating 50 years of Outstanding Service!

Courage, Bravery, Compassion and Loyalty are the words that appear on the Cape Coral Fire Department badge but for 50 years the Cape Coral Fire Department has shown the citizens of Cape Coral that these are much more than just words but a work ethic they have taken to heart and followed year after year.

We are very proud of our Cape Coral Fire Department, which started out in 1962 when the citizens of our then small community of Cape Coral decided that they needed their own fire department to cut down on slow response time to emergencies due to the nearest Fire department was at the time The North Ft Myers Fire Department.  Which led up to April 10, 1962, when the Florida Secretary of State signed the articles of Incorporation into law establishing the Cape Coral Fire Department.

Cape Coral finally had its own fire department with its first Fire Chief Edward Kocik and the first two full time firemen, Gib Patton and Tim Herrick and with a John Beam High Pressure Pumper and a John Beam Ladder truck.

50 years later, The Cape Coral Fire Department is one of the busiest and well respected Fire Departments in Lee County with 10 stations and over 190 trained personnel.   Keeping Cape Coral safe and doing so with Courage, Bravery and Compassion and Loyalty just as they did when they started out 50 years ago.  Congratulations to the Cape Coral Fire Department for 50 years of Service!   Thank you for keeping our Community safe!
