Cape Coral’s going to the dogs…the Labrador Retriever dogs that is! It's the 7th annual Lab Fest

dogsplayinwater_704 It’s that time of the year again, Lab Fest this November 10, 2012 from 9-1:00 at the Four Freedoms Park. The 7thannual Lab Fest is sponsored by our friends Anita and Lou Simmons owners of the Cape Dog Bakery and the Cape Coral Parks and recreation. The Lab fest raises money for Labrador Retriever Rescue of Florida and the Wagging Tails Dog Park in Cape Coral. It’s a celebration of Labrador Retrievers and also all dogs. So bring out your Labrador retriever and your non Labrador Retriever four legged doggie friends and join the fun!  You don’t have to have a dog to attend either. Come on out and enjoy the huge crowd favorite of seeing the dogs jumping and swimming and playing in the water. Oh and let’s not forget the other crowd favorite... petting and cuddling the Labrador retriever dogs.  Who doesn't like a cuddle with a Labrador retriever? There also will be vendor exhibits, contests, demonstrations and water-oriented games and food and drinks and of course a barking good time!

This years event is helping The Labrador Retriever Rescue a wonderful non-profit organization dedicated to helping place purebred Labrador Retrievers into loving and forever homes. The group provides rescue and foster care, cutielabcute_120veterinary care and microchips for the Labradors in their adoption program. The organization has been working together since 2000, rescuing hundreds of dogs throughout the state last year alone. That’s a whole lot of dogs that have been helped! It takes a lot of donations to help with the great work the Labrador Retriever Rescue does, so come on out and have a great time and help  dogs in need.  For more information on Labrador Retriever Rescue, to find out about adoption or how to make donations, please visit their site:

Also this year’s event will also help the Wagging Tails Dog Park here in Cape Coral.  The Wagging Tails dog park is a open to the public dog park or as we like to call it a “doggie social club”. With two fenced in areas, (1 for large dogs and one for small dogs) with lots of room to run and play. It’s become the premier go to hang out for dog lovers and their dogs.  I can personally give a two thumbs up or should I say two paws up to the Wagging Tails Dog Park as both my dogs Sammie and Mia are huge fans!  For more info on the Wagging Tails Dog Park you can visit  and also the Cape Coral Parks and Recreation site:

labfest_225We hope to see you at the 7th Annual Lab Fest this November 10, 2012 from 9:00-1:00  in the Four Freedoms Park located off of Cape Coral Pkwy in Cape Coral.  For more information call The Cape Dog Bakery (239) 542-9663
